Companion way hatch boards

Hello everyone and happy holidays!! What are you guys/gals doing to stow your hatch boards? Did you make something from sunbrella or stow in a locker? Thank you for all of your help!

Re: Companion way hatch boards

I glued Sunbrella using a spray adhesive to make a pocket when I had my C&C. Current boat has a channel under the nav station that it slides into for storage.

Re: Companion way hatch boards

I went to a metal shop and had them fold a U shaped trough out of 3 mm aluminium which I screwed to a bulkhead behind the engine enclosure in the aft cabin. The three boards slide in and so far have not required any sort of restraint to keep them there.

Re: Companion way hatch boards

On a previous boat I just left them on a berth for about 6 months until I looked behind the door for the aft cabin to discover teak cleats on the bulkhead that builder had installed to hold them. Current boat has cleats alongside companionway stairs/engine compartment. Look around carefully, not always obvious, sometimes you get lucky and builder recognized the need.

I have a bag with three pockets in it that was provided by Tartan when the boat was manufactured.

Ours are 1/2" clear perspex (acrylic). They live in channels just under the top of our pantry, with a bungee to a hook to make sure they all stay in.

Lots of neat ways to do it!
