Crazy things people have crossed oceans in....

Hi all,

I'm trying to generate a list of all the crazy things people have crossed oceans in. Surprisingly google is not a big help and I feel like i'm missing some stuff.

Here is the list i have so far:

Stand up paddle Board

The Two brothers who floated cars across

Wind surfer

French dude who crossed in a barrel a few years ago

The american guy who tried to run across, twice (although i'm not sure ill included this)

If anyone else has ideas and some sources to back them up it would be very interesting.

A 5'11" sailboat.

If you look into the cockpit, notice the seat belt. Can you imagine being belted into this boat during an Atlantic storm?

Ant Steward circumnavigated in a 20 foot open boat! The video below is some 25 or so minutes long and describes the modifications to his boat to make it doable. Oh yeah, he also lost his charts some five or six days into the journey and continued with just a compass and a one page map!

How about Serge Testa who went around the world in a 12' "yacht"! I met him when he had built a 60' yacht. Finally got a dose of reality.

And of course Web Chiles who circumnavigated in an open 17' Drascombe Lugger. And more recently in a Moore 24 in his late 70's.

The crazy guy that sailed to china in a walker bay dingy.

And someone else already mentioned the amphibious jeep. Worth noting that he started off by crossing the Atlantic diagonally from the NE USA to the coast of Africa. Vessels name was half-safe. Kind of a joke.

Alain Bombard was another unique mariner who stands out in my mind. To deliberately set out across the Atlantic with no provisions is crazy.
Cheers

Her adventures haven't crossed oceans yet that I know of but Freya Hoffmeister has completed some remarkable feats of seamanship imho including circumnavigating both Australia and South America in a kayak. Just finished reading "Fearless" an account of her Australian accomplishment and remember an excerpt from an article in some magazine describing her passage around Cape Horn in her South American circumnavigation that sounded as daunting as it gets.
