Re: Cruising in the news during the pandemic

How to sensationalize nothing.
Boats have not been sent back to the US and Canada from Spain. They are in lock down in local marinas. The Guadia Civil have been checking marinas to make sure everyone is OK and there are even food and supply deliveries organized by the marinas. Some have left their boats in safe slips and flown back "home".

Anyone in the Caribbean should rightly worry about the coming hurricane season. The guy in Sint Maarten could just as easily leave his boat there and fly home to Ireland. He could sail to Ireland it is a perfect time of year to do that trip. But in anything other than an organized flotilla must be absolutely terrifying. There are 100's of boats that sail across the oceans that are not in rallies. They nearly all communicate by SSB.

Or he could just sail to Trinidad, sure there are special quarantine procedures in place but so what.

What with Covid alternative news must be thin on the ground.
