Current conditions in French Polynesia

Hi all,
New to the forum. The wife and I are chartering out of Raiatea in January. Is anyone in the area now that can let me know what the local conditions are like? I know it is warm and humid with rain. Is it crowded? empty? Windy or not? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

We have a boat in Papeete but are choosing to stay in Canada until sometime in 2021. There are a couple of good sources for local info that you can search for. They are:

1. French Poly Cruisers Facebook Group
2. A WhatsApp group called "Share Cruising Info FP".

The latter is active pretty much daily and includes sailors in remote and popular anchorages.

The FB group is also quite helpful.

I assume that you are aware that cyclone season does not end until April or so. The person that looks after our boat mentioned last week that a serious depression was moving through and that it was pretty hairy.
