Dinghy -Toe Rail

How would you tie a dingy on deck, forward of the mast?
I recently was on a boat that didn’t have any
pad-eyes or handrails to secure the tie-downs.
The lines from the dink were instead led to the toe-rails.
IMHO this created an intolerable tripping hazard to
anybody going forward, especially at night.
Interested in your thoughts???
Cheers
Neil

Roller-furling tends to make going forward, especially at night, less necessary. If the tripping hazard is intolerable you can start a discussion about towing the dinghy in 5' seas. Every boat is a series of compromises. Your boat, your choices.

I think it depends on the size of the boat and what type of deck hardware it has. What comes to mind immediately is the forward cleats and shrouds. Maybe dorade cowling guards. If this is a common requirement going forward, install some custom tie down points exactly where you want them. Use folding padeyes with backing plates.
