Dismal Swamp.

Has anyone navigated the Dismal Swamp within the last 5-6 days? I have been hearing the duck weed was really bad and they were turning boats around last week? Also wanted to hear what the latest is on the shoaling and depths from all the storms.
We are trying to decide on an educated choice between the swamp or the Albermarle/Chesapeake Canal.

Duck weed I’m familiar with as a cave diver is a very surface phenomenon, it doesn’t extend more than an inch or so down and of course is tiny little green bits.
I don’t think my thru hull would suck any of it up.
Fl Springs are often covered with it.

This was from Dismal Swamp Welcome Center and a posting I read where the poster said the bridge attendant was strongly advising to turn around. The gentleman also said that they had a lot of problems with the catamarans going through last week. Apparently it clears up with a southerly wind and fills back in with a northern wind.

Duck weed hyacinths? Big difference. Thick blooms of hyacinths will stop you dead. Duck weed Ive never encountered a problem.
