Does anyone use iPad helm?

With several autopilots allowing real-time remote steering by an app, it seems pretty easy to control certain aspects of helm from anywhere within WiFi/Bluetooth range. Without too much trouble, it would seem possible to add functionality (engines, conceivably electric winches) to remote control. Is anyone using this function with their autopilots/wireless devices?

I confess the motivation for this question is hypothetical; I’m toying with the design of an atypical cruising sail cat, and for various reasons it is reasonable to have an internal helm station in the bridgedeck salon. Visibility of, or despite the sails is less an issue, while using the salon roof as an “end cap” will increase performance and lower the center of effort. The primary helm station would be well protected in foul weather, and anywhere within WiFi/Bluetooth range in fair.

Please share experiences/opinions of using an app for control of one’s boat.
