Double footblocks

Hi all....

I've been struggling to locate Spinlock double foot blocks (clock-wise and anti-clockwise). I have singles (as per the attached photos).

I have contacted the manufacture but of course they do not carry them now as they are 'obselet'. I can of course purchase the latest and greatest manufactured versions (at considerable cost of course), however that requires filling the holes used by the current foot block fastenings and drilling new to suit the different footprint....this is not my prefered solution.

I've searched numerous online stores, but to no avail...

Does anyone in the sailing community just happen to have a pair just laying around or could offer somewhere I could try to source them from.

I live in Las Palmas, Spain and if by 'chance' someone out there has what I'm looking for I'm very happy to provide adequate compensation for what appear to be rather 'rare' items.

Any assistance or thought would be greatly received...

Cheers for now and make the best of you respective lock-downs..

Re: Double footblocks

Perhaps you have already considered this.....if you can locate the single version just stack them and use longer fastenings. Alternatively, if you purchase the new double version with a different bolt pattern you can mount a stainless or aluminum plate to the mounting pad using the old bolt pattern and mount the new double version with the new bolt pattern to the new base plate you just installed.

Re: Double footblocks

Hi Jim...
Thanks for your comments...
As I sat on the aft deck, about an hour after posting the thread, I had a moment of clarity...as per your suggestion, re: having an aluminium or stainless steel plate.
I'm ashamed to say it but I'm an engineer and have been thinking about this for weeks, and than moments after posting, a solution comes to mind.
As per your other thought of doubling up the foot blocks, I've also been unsuccessful in locating singles...
Thanks once again for your comments
Cheers
Robert

Re: Double footblocks

Once you accept the adaptor plate concept, I'd think you could acquire new foot blocks from any reputable source, and make them work. Have you had a look at Garhauer blocks? Shipping costs might kill the idea, but someone should have something that would work properly for you.

Re: Double footblocks

Hi Ann....
Thanks for the note..
I will check out Garhauer...and what they have to offer.
I have some friends in the UK and travel back and forward regularly between there and the Las Palmas so to a great extent have been able to avoid additional expense to a great extent.
I see you are in Australia, I hope your enjoying it. As an expat Aussie I sometime miss home..
Take care and cheers for now

Double footblocks

Concerning Garhauer I concur they are an excellent source for quality gear and reasonably priced. They also will custom make whatever you need and the costs are not unreasonable. Talk to Mark at 909-985-7513.
