ENGINE QUESTION> 50 PERKINS PERAMA

Is it any good??? Heard it was really a Volvo made by Japanese Shibura or the like.`Read somewhere it had a weird electrical system. Thanks in advance.

Yes the Perkins Perama and the Volvo penta MD 2010/20/30 range (and the newer range) are based on the Shibaura industrial engine but have a simple and fairly unremarkable electrical system. The Perkins PRIMA however was often supplied with an insulated earth ( above ground or earth return ) system which is not very common at all and usually only found on boats with metal hulls.
