Engine water direction?

Installing a new Red Dot forced air heater.

I am going to use the existing hoses that run to the hot water heater.

The new heater has IN and OUT fittings, but which hose on the engine is the water actually coming from?

I have attached a picture. My guess is the braided hose (the one WITHOUT the lettering and two hose clamps) is the OUTPUT, as it is right above the pump.

Is this correct?

Re: Engine water direction?

I found the pic a little hard to discern, no big deal.
The coolant pumps bolted to the fronts of engines are centrifugal, and they operate, (as a figure of speech,) by "sucking" the water from the engine block where they're bolted on.
Whatever hose/fitting is on the side of the pump is the discharge.
Hope that helps.
