Re: Feeding lines thru boom?

Is this a single line reefing system, and if so, is it a Selden boom? The Selden system includes these little plastic "wheels" for the the metal plates that slide inside the boom, and they easily deteriorate and break, at which point you are just dragging the metal plate itself through the slot the wheels are supposed to be in. I have given up on mine after replacing them several times.

Re: Feeding lines thru boom?

Could find a very well trained hamster.

I have a 16' boom and when I bought the boat, it was packed full of mud and debris from birds nests. Possible source of your drag? Mud dauber wasps are great at plugging stuff up. I wound up using a pressure washer down mine to clean it out, then I used a piece of bike chain to pull a tag line down the boom to pull my ropes. Stood the boom vertical with the mainsheet halyard. Stuffed the holes with polyester pillow stuffing. Birds and bugs can't get through it, it doesn't rot, and lines slide right past it.
