Thx in advance vjm. I am aware of Stuart but thought Palm Bch county was out of reach for reasonably priced sailboat water that is not miles away from an inlet.

Thx Tim. Very helpful. I have shoal draft so is Gasparilla too skinny?

A new term for me, "Tower trash". Does this refer to hi rise condos?

This is a great thread. Does anyone have any updates. We are looking for a one bedroom winter rental to check things out before bringing our boat down to Florida.

try Burnt store marina in Punta Gorda Fl . Great place to sail and many destinations a day sail. Plus major bay to sail in and Pelican bay very close [2hours away ]
Many condos and apartments for the winter plus great facilities .

I recall that y ou have a cat. Any issues for a boat with five and half foot draft? (Skinny waters in Charlotte Harbor?)

There are some skinny water but go to your chart plotter and just look at the bay .
There is a lot of room and and the gulf is about 2-3 hours away .
I have several friends that have drafts of 5 1/2 that sail in that bay.
Plus the area is a great jumping off place for other destinations

Thanks for the insight Rancher. My plans are to transport my boat from WI to Punta Gorda. What marina would you suggest I ship to for commissioning?
