Re: FREE, or close to free!

Here's another free boat in NJ, (east coast) USA. The Cherubini hunters are supposed to be good boats. The original engine was likely a yanmar. Good candidate for electric conversion. I don't seem able to post a link, so here's the ad with contact info:

1982 Hunter 27 Cherubini sailboat.
$1
Toms River, NJ
Boat is Free.
Engine has been removed, I was going to hang an outboard on it.
Interior is a mess. Needs a good cleaning and new cushions.
Sails and rigging are good, I sailed it to the marina.
Call Tom or Suzanne at Beaton's Boatyard, Brick NJ.
732-477-0259.
Expect to pay the marina something to prep the boat for you.
Negotiate directly with them.

Wear foulies and duck when waves come over.

Trintella 28 very beautiful boat. Seller is asking $3,000, which isn't close to free but I doubt it will sell at that price considering condition. I saw this same model boat sell in beautiful condition in Santa Barbra last year for under 4k.
All the Trintella aficionados will recognize that as one of the early models... it’s like finding a boat tail Alfa Romeo!

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Was going to post an ad I saw that had a couple freebies in it, but they're spoken for already!! One was a decent looking Pearson Triton, the other was a Bristol on a trailer. They looked good and went within a day of the posting!

Re: FREE, or close to free!

This is a 32 foot S&S design asking $4,500.

Appears to be a solid boat, ready to sail, and pretty clean in the pictures. Located on Lake Ontario, US side...little sodus bay (fairhaven).

More pics and contact info in the ad, follow the link:

Here is the text from the ad:

I'm back with a new price- I'm a 1968 classic Sparkman & Stephens 32 foot Chris Craft Cherokee sloop and my owners say it's time to move on. I've lived with them for 21 years and am currently sailing on Little Sodus Bay (NY). They have taken good care of me but are now downsizing to a trailer sailor. Except for one winter on the Chesapeake with them, I've always sailed on freshwater, cruising daysailing and teaching others how to sail. I'm easy to singlehand and I'm ready for new adventures if you'll give me a chance.

“Titania” is a fin keel cruiser-racer -moderate displacement- easily sailed by one with responsive tiller steering, ideal for a couple cruising Lake Ontario- draft five feet displacement approx 8700 pounds Atomic Four inboard (rebuilt 2007) sails -main good condition, jibs good to fair condition

equipment includes high output alternator and inverter, two anchors and rodes, VHF, Lifesling, docklines and fenders, stove, two new compasses, dodger, steel cradle, halyards led aft, slab reefing, and other gear.

This is a solid boat, no balsa core(!) solid glass hull, deck is sound with non absorbant foam core, six new keel bolts in cast iron keel, no known structural issues. Currently ashore but will be launched in early May.
“Titania” is a great all around sailor, mannerly and responsive as daysailor or cruiser. She is priced to sell asking $ 4500 USD. She is ready to give her new owner many years of excellent

That is a decent price for this boat. Theres an Apache listed in RI for 10K, that pretty much needs all of that in work. Everything from spongy decks, cracking at the keel joint, to a totally busted open stringer. Then theres the "small" things, like blistering paint, fairing compound thats falling off the cast iron keel, and aged standing rigging.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

If she was on a trailer I would have gone to get it the day I saw the ad. Some BAD glass work aft, but the rest looks like elbow grease. Of course they dont really show the hull. Could be ugly.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Not really even close to free, but I think a pretty good price for this boat. Wheel helm, HOT water and skeg mount rudder on a 26 footer! I'd cruise this boat to the Carribean without worry.

The ol Chris Crafts had a good rep. If the keel and bolts check out, that could be a great boat. I knew a guy many years ago with an Apache who sang it’s praises often. Like all the 60s boats it too had a good rep for hull strength, and pretty fast in its day!
Now if you could find a Comanche I might be all over that one......
