THAT is definitely one to check out. Looks to be one of the diamonds that is not so rough. Now who was it that was looking for a strong, simple, sea-worthy and sea kindly "bluewater" boat for not too much $? Don't let this one go by unchecked.

Grampian 26 in Hamilton Ontario (Canada) $450 (cdn).

These Grampians are common around here. Smallest boat around with standing headroom. Not a great boat, but still a good way to get out on the water.

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-sailboat/ham...ationFlag=true

From the ad:

Solid boat. Hull and rig are in good shape. Cabin sole was replaced last year. Sails are average. The boat has been lots of fun for my family and is only being sold because we have the opportunity to move on to something else.

Sale includes : Boat, cradle, anchor, fenders, sails, cushions, rigging, compass, VHF radio, Windex, radar reflector, flares, electronic bilge pump, Porta Potti. Outboard is negotiable.

Currently on the hard in Hamilton. Can be launched from where she is stored. Storage paid up until mid May.

1963 Pearson Ariel (26 feet) near Ottawa (Canada) asking $1825 cdn.

Looking for a little boat capable of sailing around the world?

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-sailboat/gat...ationFlag=true

The kijiji page has a video tour of the boat.

The other pics from the ad seem to be stock photos.

That last one is not the Ariel, but I think the hull is the same. The Ariel, like all the older boats with the long keel/encapsulated ballast, is a great choice in areas like mine where you can expect all kinds of conditions and sea states; it is a simple, strong and resilient design that is capable of taking good care of its folks and is a good sailor to boot. Check the video, clearly the boat is worth it!
With a trailer too? sheesh, where are those teenagers looking for freedom and adventure???

That vdo was shot 3 years ago in Oklahoma City.

Doesn't mean it's **not** the same boat currently up in Ottawa, but. . .

Yeah, the ad looks pretty fishy to me too...stock photos, lots of links about the model, but no actual info or pics about the boat. Lots of red flags on this one. Proceed with caution (or not at all).

Don't blame you. I'm thinking the best candidate for Injectadeck is someone who is thinking about drilling holes & injecting epoxy. I think Injectadeck is clearly a better option than doing that.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

My first boat (1976 C&C 30) before, and after. Bought her on Craigslist for $3000, sold her for $7500, BUT about $4500 probably went into her overhaul... And God only knows how many man hours (every weekday from before dawn until I had to go to work for about 8 months, plus many many weekends.)

I sanded and faired her whole hull, re-painted her, repainted her decks, put in a completely new electrical system, electronics, LED lighting, all new pumps, new upholstery, new carpeting, etc. etc. etc. etc.

I saved that boat and because of me, she's still sailing around here somewhere. It was an extremely rewarding experience and I learned a ton. I think all of you thinking about doing this, should do it. Just make sure you have the time, the money, mental fortitude, and a patient significant other who likes to sail...

All that said, I'll probably never do it again

I'm grilling him on email

He's claiming it is a genuine Ariel, hull #16. But apparently an unfinished project, which may explain reluctance to post current pics.

Trailer doesn't look great.

Round trip would be a very full day just for the highway travel, kids would have to come along, so I won't be going to eyeball it without a lot more due diligence first.

I suppose seeing Niagara with them on the way would be nice. . .

This was in a Catalina forum and it might be worth investigating. Caveat emptor.

For people who like this sort of thing, this is the kind of thing that they like.
