Re: FREE, or close to free!

Didn't realize this one comes with a trailer too!! In MUCH better shape than the one listed on Cape Cod with no trailer, and for less $$!

Nice little boat. Yes it needs to be cleaned up and I'd sure want to look for rot in what wood there is from all that weather.. but for someone with a backyard close to the water and a shed with some tools and a kid with a dream to play around Cape Cod, I can see it!
BTW if anyone finds a Pearson Coaster (30') that is a good one to check out as a boat with bluewater potential.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Just for fun I went looking and there appears to be a Coaster for sale in New York, looks really good, the atomic 4 looks brand new (rebuilt) and for $7500 not free but I'd sure check it out if I lived in New York.
1967 Pearson Pearson Coaster sailboat for sale in New York

I am pretty sure the beam is NOT 11' !
Also is the dinette with quarter berths layout...man I'd really check it out...

The moss growing on it tell me this would be a total refit. I have no doubt the cabin looks just as bad as the outside.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Does anyone look at sailboatlisting.com anymore? I've found their site a huge pain to navigate through all of the VERY old ads and there is no filter for recent postings.

I have never tried to search through it, I've only searched a particular type of boat and their listings have appeared, if they have one.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

BTW... over 41000 views of this thread since February!!!! Thank you everyone who has contributed so far! I hope there's some readers who have found boats through this thread!

The Youtube channel is in the works. I think you can subscribe to it already. Just go to Youtube.com and search for "Low Budget Sailor"! I've lined up interviews and behind the scenes footage of one of the best boat painters in New England, and a great sailmaker who will talk about everything from buying new sails to maintaining the ones you already have.

I've done the same and that's where the frustration comes from. I saw an ad for a boat and fell in love, only to find out the listing was from 2014.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

It's on my list, but so far not too high up. The Triton seems to be better from both liveaboard design and seakindly factors?

But at that sort of pricing if good shape, I'd likely get it.

Good thing I don't have a trailer yet 8-)

You're buying an outboard & getting a free boat! Killer deal.
