Re: FREE, or close to free!

Has some hull damage, but it's not too bad..... no matter what, at $500 obo it's potentially awesome.

I see a father and son, or father and daughter (or any family combination!) project to get her back in the water and then go gunkholing and fishing and exploring.... yep, potentially awesome. I would not necessarily be deterred by "some hull damage" unless it is something major structurally, which I doubt. Patch it up, smooth it out, paint it and go sailing!

Since you've got the trailer, pick this one up as well for parts

Aren't there Boy Scout Ships that get boats and fix em up anymore? Are there still Boy Scout Ships anywhere?

Don, your behind the times lol. They just call them Scouts now and you don't have to be a boy, matter of fact I think you can identify with whatever gender "feels" good to you at the time. I believe they also allow leaders of any orientation and persuasion now too lol.

Go figure, the world is going a different way. This is why the Mormons have separated themselves from the boy scouts and are making there own program similar but with traditional beliefs like the Christians did when they created the royal rangers.

Anyway, back to more free or nearly free boats! I am still waiting for my Alberg 35, still bummed I missed out on the Stephens 35 (I think that's the name) that went for free in SD when I recovered my Columbia. But to be fair that old boat was beat like a drum, she likely went for the lead in her keel which is a shame.

I also have been watching the same Pearson Vanguard for more than a year listed at 16k in mint condition. I think the boats are absolutely wonderful, but wouldn't be upset at a slightly lower price considering the market. But darn it if they aren't beautiful. I may call both of these guys on the Alberg 35's.

Something different- I have a friend who is intrigued by multihulls. For your consideration: 2 trimarans, one small, one large. One comes across solid, the other... well, it’s floating in the picture and the cl listing alone is good for a laugh.

That 40 footer seems like the reason for all of those restrictive anchoring laws in Florida! Still, for the people that are into this kind of thing, this is the kind of thing they’re into! Almost more of a sailing anarchy post...

For the Pearson crowd. I checked out my buddy’s and it did seem stout. I can see the attraction.

Not too broad by todays standards, under 11 feet right? Geez the last time I was in the boat yard there was a boat a few down from us, its beam had to have been honestly just under 14 feet I couldn't believe it. Almost looked like one of the pearson 40 type boats based on the shape. Not sure it was one, but I couldn't believe how wide she was.

Right.

That's why I like my 8.5' hard limit, keeps the eligible list manageable.

So when you get your Alberg, whatcha doin' with your Columbia? 8-)
