Those Coasters don't come up very often, it was on my short list for sure. Had one come up near me I would have had it no questions asked. I think they are beautiful old boats.

The description seems a little over the top. Needs a ton of work and possibly a new engine. Wouldn't buy it without a full inspection.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Absolutely! AFAIC the closer to Free the more I'd want to pay a grand for at least informal surveys.

Took 25 bids to get over $1000!

A lot like BoatAngel auctions I think, comparable condition likely.

She's worth over $3600 for ballast scrap alone. $1000 is a pretty safe bet.

He is looking and educating himself on both sailboats and trawlers seeing what might be best for him out on the water.

So I thought if he found a decent one on this thread, on the east coast (he is in VA) it might be a fun project for him. SO keep them coming and thanks again guys.

100% agreed. Also after shaking off some initial naysayers, this thread has been consistently positive.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Cheoy Lee Lion in Rhode Island, looks like might go for well under $3000.

Boat Angel auction though, so will cost $300 to look at her.
