I wasn't sure if I should post this in the "almost free" thread, or the "worst pictures" thread. The boat looks much better in person.

If you are broke, and dreaming of sailing south, this is your chance.
I wouldn't sail it very far south...

Deal or dud? Swing keel. New tires and lights on the trailer. Needs interior work and antifoul needs done. He says the rest is in good shape. Comes with radio, depth finder, trolling motor, and new battery. It's only two hours from me, and it's on a tandem axle trailer.

Any good for learning a thing or two? Anything in particular to look for?

EDIT: Did a quick search to refresh my memory re the T30, and happened to come across this for a bit more money, already setup for cruising: https://www.sailboatlistings.com/view/34806

It might not be a 50 foot catamaran with all modern conveniences, but at this type of money nobody can say that cruising is inaccessible based on cost.

Great entry level for a young couple or average person. It seems that there a lot of boats at this value level.

Could be fun. Nothing special deal wise- read the history of the thread to get some ideas. If you have free long term storage, it should be alright. Antifoul paint won’t matter so much if you’re sailing local lakes and launching and hauling regularly. You’ll want a gas outboard, long shaft. If you have to pay to store it, I’d wait. Learn the market, figure out what you really want, and then wait to strike.

I’d go for this one first:
https://indianapolis.craigslist.org/...646836214.html

If it includes the outboard, for sure. The ad mentions controls for the outboard so it likely does. Even as is it looks to be the better value- ‘turnkey’ as opposed to “needs work “.

Thanks for your input. Yes, I've read the majority of this thread(and most of the others) and am aware that it's no great deal, but it still has some appeal.
The trailer is tandem axle with 15" wheels and a tongue extension....With new tires.
It's a swing keel.
He's done some work to it, and the "needs work" part seems to be more interior bits, that are plenty usable as it is. He seemed to be quite honest about it on the phone.
I have a few outboards around, so that's not too big a deal breaker for me.
We have plenty of storage, but it wasn't free.
What I want, is a Lagoon 450. Just haven't found one close enough to go look at.
I think the trailer is what's catching my eye. After all, what good is a trailer sailer if the trailer is crap.

I'll investigate the link you posted. Thanks again.

Thanks to all the posters! I've been really busy (beer fest season) and haven't really had time to contribute but I'm so glad to see new faces and contributors!

Re: FREE, or close to free!

CD 25. No rig, no title, yard owned. asking $800. Maybe its worth it? If the rigging is the only issue, and it has all her sails, this could be a great deal.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Posting this with a caveat. The boat is located in Brattleboro VT. I was going to jump on this myself but when I figured the cost of repairs + the haul it wasn't worth it to me.... but thats me.

True facts! I’m fortunate to be mooring for the season so I’m less focused on trailers. Right now mine serves primarily as a cradle. Good luck in your search and please continue posting.
