Good to know. I know the Baldwin "Atom bluewater" guy says OK too.

Some say Wayfarer only made the 29' in 1968-69, but then some others say theirs was also '66, and found this

so I guess atom & sailboatdata are wrong?

Islander 29 (Wayfarer) - Cruisers & Sailing Forums
I currently own a 1963 wayfarer columbia defender 29 which is actually the same hull as the wayfarer islander 29 and 68-69 islander 30 they were actually made by the same company for several years . There is a lot of wired history there along with lots of wrong info . Trust me its a deep rabbit hole there .

Re: FREE, or close to free!

I'm pretty sure the Islander 29 and the Columbia 29 are different hulls by different designers, McGlasson (for the I29) and Stephens (for the C29)

Don that's where the waters are really muddy many stories show Joe actually used the s&s table of offsets and added a bit on the beam and 6 inches in the length. Is about all the difference.
Like I said on another thread a deep rabbit hole .
( I spent a few weeks down that one including a few phone conversations )

I went through all the data you linked to and there was no mention in either of the glas laminates company connections. ( they were a fiberglass shower enclosure manufacturer. ) they were the start of all this columbia islander cluster confusion.

C&C Newport 28, $4k, https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/boa...788361255.html
some red flags: 1) atomic 4 listed but fuel type says diesel
2) first picture feels old, 2nd picture is from a catalog
3) roller furling headsail shown in picture and not mentioned

That being said this one caught my eye.

C&C “Naigra” 24, $2k, https://chicago.craigslist.org/nch/b...804002554.html

I liked:
That 4 stroke outboard + bracket alone is closing in on $1k value
Many pics and the timing of the post suggests this is pretty close to how she looks now
Yellow so you’ll never lose her in a crowd
Stickers say she’s been on the water

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Tanzer 26 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada (Lake Ontario, east end), $2000 cdn.

This boat looks to be in very good condition, and is complete with motor. The Tanzer 26 is a well known, quality boat, with shallow draft. An excellent boat for sailing on the great lakes. Located at a wonderful, reputable marina.

I am looking at a Catalina 27 for $3300 canadian. One of the pictures is this one

What do you think about those cracks? I am going to look at the boat tomorrow to see if that is just surface stuff.

sorry I don't see any cracks just a lot of dirt and a few spots where the edge glass was chipped away from the hatch coming if that's all it is then I would not even worry about it .
Mostly cosmetic and an easy fix .

the issue I see here is they say the interior is gutted and there is no mention of an outboard
That Honda on the previous boat is worth a few hundred by itself .

Re: FREE, or close to free!

I would not have a way of getting the Toronto boat to Vancouver anyways. That would sure be a nice boat trip though hmm. How long would that take, have to get out of the great lakes and over to East Coast, then down to Panama and up West coast. A trailer would cost way more than the boat, and gas costs. Not worth it, but good for someone living in Toronto.

load it cradle and all on a car trailer behind your pickup and tow her home no big deal but it will definitely cost more than the difference between the two just in fuel for you
