It looks like someone has already taken the lead off the keel. Even at FREE it will be a hard sell.

Looks like they cut the lead off of an encapsulated keel, looks like it may be an Alberg 30 or a Pearson Triton that may have had a fire. That's a sad one. They'll need to pay someone to dispose of it. A boatyard may take the trailer.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Here is a real deal! Alberg 30 in Belleville (Lake Ontario, Canada) asking $1,500 cdn (thats like $1,000 usd)!

The Alberg 30 is a well known and well respected boat that can take you anywhere. This one appears to have had the engine removed with the intent of building an outboard engine well....not a terrible idea provided you like to sail, not motor around. I believe the feature of this boat, aside from the awesome paint job on the hull, is that it can be sailed right away, and fixed up as you go. Isn't this exactly what so many newbees are always asking for? Well, here it is!

I live about an hour away. If anyone is seriously interested, I would be happy to go see the boat with you (or without you) to have a thorough look. I'd also be happy to lend a hand with launch/delivery or provide local knowledge if required.

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-sailboat/bel...ationFlag=true

From the ad:

1965 Alberg 30. Great hull, standing headroom 2 year old sails. Been slowly fixing her up and sailing her the last two years but life’s getting to busy for me. About halfway done has been converted to outboard needs fibreglass work in the well. 1500 obo boat to be sold as is

[QUOTE

I saw a '69 Camaro pass me yesterday... beautiful, absolutely looking better than new. Now why would anyone spend all that money on an old car when even the cheapest new car would be safer and more economical to drive?

.[/QUOTE]

LOL....I'll take an old car every time. When the guy in prius heads into my lane while texting I want my cast iron V8 in his lap.

I pay less for fuel now in the US than I did 35 years ago in australia and I could afford a v8 then......and still have the same car imported to the US now, so a little fuel cost is neither here nor there.

Don't want to take the post off topic....just gotta laugh though.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Ridiculous!

Not only do the old cars put out tons of stinking carbon monoxide, they have lots of problems with their old carburetors, points, plugs, and distributor caps with the spinning rotor.

If you ever had to drive thru a tunnel over here in the 70's, you would never want one of those old cars on the road again

actually that's not entirely accurate . Properly tuned and maintained they don't have any more emissions than modern mpi gasoline engines

Re: FREE, or close to free!

For someone looking to sail around the world on a shoestring budget, a Contessa 26 in Toronto Canada, asking $3800 cdn (that's like $2500 usd):

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details...m_medium=email

From the ad:

Selling our beloved 26 ft Contessa. The boat comes with new blade sail, main sail in good condition, original cockpit cushions in good condition, cockpit teak flooring, self steering vane bracket, new compass and depth finder.
Diesel engine probably needs to be rebuilt and needs new forestay and roller furler.
Trailer is used as a cradle around the boat yard and is not road worthy.
Parked at Outer Harbour Marina in Toronto.
$3800 OBO Needs to go!
