I helped my friend with his MD7A and THAT was considerably more expensive to rebuild.
yes the volvo green means parts are green ( expensive)
hence I buy any spares when I find them cheap .
But a yanmar is a tractor motor so parts are reasonable and with a tech manual and inclination most of it is owner serviceable .

I wish I wanted a 34' foot boat! Tartans are gorgeous, well-built, and, as you say, yanmars are great engines. DEFinitely worth a look...!

Re: FREE, or close to free!

I'm thinking that this boat should more appropriately be listed under the "worst boat pics ever", but hey. I thought this thread would get a kick out of this one:

Now on to something serious - 3 yard boats. All basic, $500 each, but hulls look solid:

Re: FREE, or close to free!

HR 28 in Kingston Ontario Canada (Eastern Lake Ontario), $1500 cdn ($999 usd) in sail away condition including volvo diesel. Who wants to sail south this fall?

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details...earch%20Alerts

From the ad:

Sailboat in decent shape. Mostly cosmetics required. Will require a new main sail at some point. 3 Hank on head sails. Spinnaker but no pole. Has new lines. Brand new jabsco head. New holding tank. Volvo 2002 model 18 HP diesel with folding prop. Works good. 28’ long 4’ deep keel. Interior cushions in good shape. In the water at marina. Only had it out twice this year. And a couple times last year. Just no time. Comes with a sturdy wooden cradle. Boat sails amazing and runs good. Solid fibreglass boat no core that I have found? Asking $1500 or best offer. 613-929-3997

Lets also remember that some of these boats a true sailing classics, and it's better to see them given away than rotting in someones yard, or the back of the marina.
