The engine is dead because they have added an outboard, and the outboard is dead because it they say it needs a new lower gear case. The standing rigging has been moved from the normal inboard chain plates to some funky black painted chain plates on the outside of the hull, and that probably means the bulkheads that once supported the chain plates are rotted and can't support the load any more......
Scares me!
actually likely means that the chainplates were moved to beef up the rigging for blue water .
Not uncommon on many makes and models.
Aside from if the bulkhead is in need of replacement you will have a good pedigreed vessel when you are done.

‘97 Sovereign 20, $3k “need gone”
https://chicago.craigslist.org/nch/b...980730037.html

Very clean looking boat on the trailer, in the garage, seems like it would be fun to sail, and easy to drive and launch. Unsure if bowsprit is included in the “20’”

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Islander 29 On Georgian Bay (north of Toronto) Canada. Asking $1500 cdn (that's like $475 usd).

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details...earch%20Alerts

From the ad:

Mechanically and structurally this Islander 29 is in good shape. Some of the interior trim needs finishing as well as outside bright work. However it is a turn key boat with a working Elite 5 navigation system, autohelm, newer 6 volt deep cycle batteries and strong starting battery. The 2 jibs are in good condition however the furller was not salvageable so a forestay older jib is currently in use. The main is workable but is only fair condition. The atomic 4 engine is strong and starts first try every time. Priced for quick sale.

Wow, the autohelm and batteries will likely be more than $475, everything else is a bonus!

You must be joking. Everybody's money is going down the drain if it's not tied to the Gold Standard.

Today's exchange rate is 1 US Dollar is worth 1.347 Canadian.
Thus, it's a lot more than $475 US.

My best investment has been in Bernina sewing machine parts. Made in Switzerland and tied to the Gold Standard.

Yes, I am joking. I have to joke because I have only cdn dollars. However, I'm confident that if you showed up with $1000 usd in hand you would be able to purchase that Islander 29. For someone without a lot of dollars, but looking for a big adventure, that boat would certainly be worth a look. Not much time to head south from Georgian Bay this year though.

Yes looks like a potential beauty of a deal.

My discussion thread on the model, further commentary would be great there:

Contessa 26, Prinyers Cove, Ontario Canada (near Kingston, Lake Ontario)...FREE. This looks like the real deal. Still time to head south this year on this blue water capable boat.

What's the catch? Boat must be moved this weekend (Oct 4-6, 2019).

Price is $0 cdn. Converted to american currency using an exchange rate of 1.37 usd/cdn makes the price in USD $0 usd.

Legendary Contessa 26
Its that time of year again. Come get your free boat.
I have owned this boat for the past 3 years and I have had a lot of fun learning to sail with it. I am now upgrading to a much larger boat and so this one must go. It is offered with the following inventory
Head sail (there is no main sail)
Spinnaker in good condition
9.9 hp outboard motor in excellent running order. (The original inboard was removed by PO 1983)
standing and running rigging in excellent order
boat cradle in good condition with 4 pads
All interior cushions for berths and seating in clean and very good condition
Alcohol stove
barbecue
VHF radio
CD player/radio
standard safety equipment
Head
Sleeps 4
EXTRA - I do have a brand new (2018) main sail and a brand new head sail. They both have 1 reef each. I used them for 1 season only. these are being sold separately for $1700
I also have a new (2017) tiller pilot and battery charger.

Currently it sits at Prinyers Cove Marina on Prince Edward County
Unfortunately if you choose to take the boat then it will have to be moved THIS WEEKEND to a new marina as Prinyers is already full and has a waiting list.
I have included my phone number with this add. Please text me as this is a business number and may not have time for a conversation when you call.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Contessa 26 is gone.

Although they're very seaworthy boats, their one very great drawback is you can't stand up in them! Gawd, but that feels cramped long-term...

If contained in a box with a fan that increases rpm with exit air temperature

an alarm could piggyback off that sensor
