Don go get it .
At first I thought it was a Del Rey 24, but it’s a Cal 25. Good little boat, but in this case, it’s all about the trailer. Pretty sure the other one’s a Capri, wonder if it has sails.

looks like a Capri to me as well and poly sails would be just fine for a season or 2

I had a Cal25. Yes, looks similar, but I would guess an early one...like 1969. I've attached pics of mine for comparison. I think mine was built 1974. It had been on the hard for FIVE YEARS when I bought it in the late 90s. I was sailing in less than a week.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Here's a Out Island 41 for $6K (and negotiable). I was debating which boat sale thread to post this to, but a fairly decent Out Island for this price is pretty close to being free. I just wish that there were some pictures of the interior.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Thanks, CaptainWho,

You're right. An Out Island for $6,000 is practically a give-away. It does look like a project boat, however (the tools stacked on the companionway entry are a bit telltale).

Is it just me, though, or does that stern picture look as if the boat has recently had a fire? Or a catastrophic engine problem - with all that black soot.Hmm.

I don't think so. Boats can start looking like that in a relatively short time in Florida. Just takes some serious scrubbing.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

Here's another nice little Irwin 42' freebie. It's a project and needs a motor, but nothing insurmountable.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

I posted this boat last week, but it's still available and the owner apparently really wants to get rid of it. It's a fair project and if I was in the area, I'd take a look at it. I'm not sure why he put the $600 price on it, but I'd bet you that he'd waive that.

Canadian Side of Lake Erie, PEARSON 28, asking $1500 (cdn) (That's like $250 usd).

Pearson made solid boats. This just needs some TLC. Atomic 4...love to hate them, because they run forever.

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-sailboat/st-...nt=app_android

From the ad:

Great sailboat that needs a little TLC. It has not been in the water for the last 2 seasons. Newer sails and sheets. Sleeps 5 and has a small kitchen area with freezer box. Head and sink on board. Atomic 4 gas engine. Home made steel trailer, that does as a cradle. Boat is located at Sugarloaf Marina in Port Colborne.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

I'm with you, Hamburgking. A4s are the deal-breaker. Will NOT have a gasoline engine as my primary propulsion. (She sez emphatically)

Pearsons are lovely little boats, though. Did you see that Kitchener Contessa? Boy, is she a beaut!

Warmly,

Re: FREE, or close to free!

FREE 27 foot wood Sailboat, just north of Toronto Canada.

From the pictures it looks like a decent little pocket cruiser with a diesel engine. If you like to sand, paint, and varnish, this could be the boat for you!

The engine looks like a Volvo Penta 2002...I had one of those and it was flawless.

Pics from 2003... which means she's been on the hard for SEVENTEEN years! Does anyone know what that does to a wooden hull?

Just breaks the heart...

Oh guys - was browsing in boredom this morning and saw this and I just had to share the laugh (but probably groan):

And look at the description... "somebody LEFT it on our property!"

Actually looks like a pretty nice job of ferro-cement hull building. Hull is fair and ferro-cement hulls get stronger with time. However the deckhouse would need to be redone, looks like someone bought the hull and added the deckhouse. Look past the dirt.
