What I did learn is that there is a new type scam on craigslist boats, where they offer to send more photos but then provide a link to the photos. the link downloads malware. so.. don't click on any suspicious links to get photos etc.
It's not a scam. Saw the boat today. Just too much of a project to restore even if given for free. Which the yard manager seemed to hint at. Most likely will be cut up and parted out. The hull is suprisingly intact but the inside is too far gone with rotted bulkheads and wood and rats' nests throughout, ancient Volvo MD engine, etc.

I went with a buddy who has a 28' and he's thinking to move up in size. He's a construction contractor with some boat repair experience but he said no way this can be even half decently restored without easily sinking tens of thousands into it, even DIY. And after all that the boat would still be worth $15-20K max.

The marina guy says the rigging and sails are usable but given the boat' overall condition that may be too optimistic of assessment although we didn't ask to see those given our lack of further interest.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

I am working to try and save this boat from being cut up. If someone is closer and interested, please take her. I am afraid the cost to haul her 700 miles from NJ to SC will be more than she's worth for me. She can be trailered fairly easily behind a one ton pick up.

Not a bad looking boat from the minimal pics!

Exchanged email with seller asking about details of this project boat condition and was told asking price from experienced sailor speaks for itself. So no idea if engine, deck, mast, sails, interior or all of the above but don't expect a bargain with "boatloads" of work and/or $!

Re: FREE, or close to free!

A few interior pics would go a long way to stop the tire kickers. I’m sure as may 15 approaches. The price may drop.

Inflatable Fishing boat for free (NY)

Not a free SAILboat, but something that most sailboats need.
