Re: GoPro - What do you think?

Does the gopro come with any software for editing? If so how good is it? If not or it is not good what software would be recommended?

Yes. It comes with Cineform studio. It is ok. They do seem to make improvements to it occasionally. Windows movie maker, which is free, is also a decent editor for a beginner. More expensive programs would be needed for more professional results.

Re: GoPro - What do you think?

I posted this in the anchoring forum, so skip if it if you have already seen it, but it was taken with a borrowed Hero 3 black that I was using for the first time.
I am planning on getting one as soon as get near any shops.
Edited with the free program "loopster" (although you need to pay $2.99 for extras like music etc) just on an iPad.

Re: GoPro - What do you think?

There's a helpful piece of software, I think it's like $20, that will help you find the "highlights" in your videos (for example, if you have 10 hours of video and don't want to scan through it all manually.)

It takes a little forethought when filming because you have to put your hand (or something) over the lens when a "highlight" occurs so that the software can go back and find it later on, but it definitely speeds up editing time.

Learn how to find your video highlights with Highlight Hunter

Other than that, I use iMovie for editing.

Framing is certainly not the same as optical zoom. And framing in editing is a last resort, IMHO.

You didn't say anything about optical zoom. Your complaint was the wide angle "fish eye" view. I was responding with letting you know that there is a normal setting where it doesn't record in fish eye.
