Re: Grounded ‘Mega Ship’ Blocking Suez Canal in Both Directions

Interesting. Most RORO vessels I’ve seen have access at the stern. Assuming that the area painted in red is at or near to the LWL, bow access below the waterline seems really unusual. And since there are indicators near the bow attesting to bow thrusters, It looks to me more like work on the thrusters is in progress, and that the bulbous bow ( containing the thrusters?) has been removed.

Re: Grounded ‘Mega Ship’ Blocking Suez Canal in Both Directions

Won't she ride much higher in RORO configuration as a car carrier, lowering the waterline so RORO access could be below the old waterline? This reduction in draft will make it much less likely for her to ground out anywhere, probably reducing insurance costs substantially. Less wetted surface should also cut fuel costs. As far as operational expenses go, switching to RORO must be a win-win-win for Evergreen.

A simple rhinoplasty job, needed after a self inflicted poke on the nose.
Probably in and out of the dock in 48 hours.

Love this forum, so many seem to have no appreciation of sarcasm.

There is not so much technical stuff installed in the bow which would complicate things and building a big section is nothing extraordinary for a shipyard.
But, a cool photo still. Thanks for posting it.
Quite a bit of technical stuff actually, the bow was cropped all the way aft of both bow thrusters, both needed replacing, the bow thruster room is a very big technical space, especially on a vessel of this size

Uups my bad, I did not notice from the frontal image that they cut the thrusters out too.
That is a lot more involved, I agree.

Amazing pictures Btw.

In your defence though the original front on shot is a very deceiving and two dimensional
