Have you an unused Dock in Florida?

Does anyone have access to a dock in Florida (maybe near Fort Lauderdale) that they would be prepared to rent out? I am on a 47ft Cat with a 24ft beam and am looking to rent a spot for a about a month.

If there is not a private dock, can anyone recommend a reasonable marine where I can tie up?

"Reasonable" is typically code for "cheap." The phrases "cheap marina" and "Ft. Lauderdale" don't fit, they're like oil and water. Even "marina with available slips" is a tough match with that city. There do exist an enormous number of privately owned docks, which makes sense given the Venice-like maze of canals that make up Ft. Lauderdale. As far as I know, none allow liveaboards, and few even allow stay-aboards. Check with Eileen at Dockfinders of South Florida (Dockfinders). If it exists, she'll find it for you. For a fee, of course -- it is Ft. Lauderdale.

Suggest checking craigslist. Here in the Tampa Bay area I see ads all the time for private docks for rent.

There are tons of private moorages in or near Ft.L. Not sure about a month deal though. You might ask brokers or tool around in the dingy. Often signs are posted toward the waterway and visible from the water. Actually most of the backwater canals in E. FL have some of this. I have done Ft L and West Palm before.

Re: Have you an unused Dock in Florida?

At my marina if you let anyone else dock at your slip you are in violation of your tenancy agreement. There is actually a very good reason for that. First is that when I first applied they looked at my references. They know I am honest. Some punter offering to rent my slip: Not so.

Next is insurance. I can prove I have the $2 million they ask for. Does the punter?

Anyone renting out a slip is opening themselves to a lot of liability.

I have one on a wide canal in Cape Coral. You would have to pull along the seawall. May be too far south and west for you.
