Re: Hawk channel- how protected is it?

This looks like a good thread to continue on with... I'm currently by Loreleis and considering moving West through Florida bay to long key, tomorrow or the day after. Then, to boot key. My thought would be to stay in boot key, probably in the creek, until the cold front that's coming for 27/28th+ passes through and then moving on further west. Besides being curious what the hawk channel would be like in these E/ESE winds gusting to 22kts (according to ECMWF) I'm curious about the "climate guess" in the hawk channel for say the next 5 weeks. I'm totally new to the keys. Is the current weather a good generalisation of the next five weeks in the keys, IE strong easterlies/trades followed by cold fronts? Or could one expect some amount of settled weather?

Re: Hawk channel- how protected is it?

Yes, it will mostly suck in the Hawk channel except the periods between cold fronts
