I don't' know anything about the boat other than what I've garnered from the internets. From the look of the outboard bracket you're confined to either an electric trolling motor or up to about a 2HP gasoline outboard. Most of these little engines are all ultimately made by the same manufacturer, just find what suits your use and budget.

best thing you could do with a sportyak is put it in the garden, fill it full of water and use it as a kids paddeling pool.

any other options involving being in water deeper than you can stand i reccomend you wear a life jacket.

Now that you've heard from the troll under the bridge ^^^, you might check the literature that came with your Sportyak and see what size/type of motor the manufacturer recommends. Most small boat/dinghy manufacturers are very specific about that.

Oh...and atoll, I'm not trying to say you're not funny or creative. You are both, if a bit unfriendly.

Great boats for trolling. Seating capacity = two trolls.

The manual for it should tell you the maximum horsepower. But I'm going to guess you're looking for a 2hp outboard with a self-contained gas tank. Several manufacturers make 2hp outboards. What is the budget? Another option would be an electric trolling motor.

It is not possible to be more specific as you didn't say what you'll be using the boat for.

I see Bash is aptly named.

Here is a web page recommending a small electric or gasoline engine for the Sportyak 213:

Sportyak 213 Explorer (green / beige) : small boats stable and durable -

Ya. And he should learn how to spell, if he's going to act like some kind of self-proclaimed authority.

Let's see, a brand new member, claiming to be new and lost, (poor thing!) in his/her first post on this forum asks what sort of engine can be run on the most unseaworthy vessel ever built of plastic. Troll (Internet) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

And you decide to be unfriendly and demeaning, why?

Read my original post again. I wrote, "Great trolling boat. Capacity = two trolls." That's all. How you get "unfriendly and demeaning" out of that is beyond me.

Here's what the forum rules have to say about trolling: "Trolling and cyberstalking are NOT allowed and are grounds for account restriction or banishment. Trolling on this board includes posting controversial and often irrelevant or off-topic messages with the intention of (or anticipated result of) baiting other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal, harmonious on-topic discussion, especially when a pattern of such posting is apparent."

Get it? "Baiting users into an emotional response?" See any of that going on here?

You want to be gullible, fine. Don't get angry at the rest of us for not taking the bait.
