Help with cabin sole

Buying new teak and holly plywood and using the old pieces for templates is the easiest, most professional way. Or if thats not available, laminate your own of any appropriate wood and custom design, have a wood shop cut it into 1/4" veneers and epoxy it over your sole. That's how I've done it on 2 boats. Now you can sand and refinish without going thru the veneer.

Back when I was building my boat....I thought the teak and holly sole was nice.....but a bit out of my price range...

So I decided to make my own....with plywood and mahogany.

The plywood is called texture T-11, it comes with grooves already cut into it and is typically used on the outside of houses. It is 5/8" thick.

The mahogany was gained from a motorcycle company, that uses mahogany crates to import their bikes..these I cut into small thin lengths that fit into the grooves of the plywood. I used WEST to glue them in with some color.

I thought these looked nicer than the teak and holly.... of course..but might give some ideas...
