Hi, I am in Durban South Africa and am planning a voyage to New Zealand in March 2012. I have an old 53 roberts and have spent the last 3 years refitting her(live aboard and have day job). I have reconditioned engine/gearbox new sails and rollerfurling/ winches. Rewired her with all new pumps ect and new plumbing but as I sit here typing she looks like a bomb has hit!!! I am on the 3rd remodel of the galley and my feet are proped on the sink that is at my side like a good dog When do we become sailors and stop being boat builders??
Could any one help me with info on regulations, boat and me, in NZ and home schooling a 14 year old (grade 9 this year .. grade 10 next).
Any route and timing info would also be apreciated as the pirates have closed my chosen route, they are still holding a friend of mine and his wife, who left last year and were taken off the east coast of africa
