Demonstration of hip tow.
Note: My personal experience was bringing a Southern Star 29 a distance of 50nm up the Maine coast with a 9ft Avon & 5Hp Honda OB. We locked the Honda steering to straight ahead & made hull speed 6kts using about 1/3 throttle. Nobody needed aboard dinghy-steered with sailboat tiller.
We did find that having the stern of dinghy out past sailboat stern a foot or so made for more balanced tiller steering. / Len
