If it hasn't already been said, it is worth bearing in mind that how high you can point is not necessarily important, because your highest point of sail may not produce your best VMG. Also, sheeting your headsail on hard will generally cause the front of the main to luff, so that what you gain on the swings will be lost on the roundabouts, if you will excuse the metaphor...
