Re: How do I choose the right broker to sell my boat?

20 years ago you would probably have to hire a broker but with all the social media today YouTube videos you can get the word out and if it's a nice boat you can knock the price down $15,000 bucks and still come out ahead

There you go. Nothing to it. So easy a caveman could do it.

Drop your price by the amount of the commission so that you net the same as if you had paid a broker to do it all except that you do it all and less marketing. Brilliant!

BTW I know AYS. Good outfit and they sell way more brokerage boats than new boats.

Great time of year up there now. Detail it, price it right and you should do fine.

OK, then.

Sure, if he wants to spend the summer dealing with dreamers, scammers, nice people with no money but great plans, etc Then it might be worth it to him to save a few dollars. He won't have access to the major MLS sites though. OTOH Facebook likes are cool.

Showing the boat is part of it but selling it is the goal. For that he will need to know what is on the market, how they compare to his and what others have sold for. He should be prepared to take a serious prospect to see the comps. Etc

It can work. It has worked. Without getting lucky it is not easy.

But....?

What does one look for when shopping for a broker?

Picking a bad one is such a waste of time...
I just sold our 99 bene352 in a week on sailboatlistings.com , yes we were the least expensive boat in comparison, but hey.. We got asking price..
