Next year will be the thirtieth year I've owned La Belle Aurore, my CS36 Merlin. Got her from CS Yachts in 1988. Hull#36.

I bought my S2 10.3 new at the 1982 boat show">Annapolis Boat Show. After 35 years I still love it and sail her most every Wednesday afternoon.

Re: How long have you owned your boat?

16 years from new...major refit time now...selling at 10 would have been a better strategy. 😕

Re: How long have you owned your boat?

23 years, starting to replace stuff for the second and third time. I've always owned a sailboat for the past 48 years. Made my first one at 13 and used it everyday during the summer.

Re: How long have you owned your boat?

Big boat 23 years
First wife five years
Second wife three years
Third wife going on five years she gets to pick next boat. She came with her own boat which we still have. She also came with golf clubs but nobody is perfect.

Re: How long have you owned your boat?

I bought Shiva new on 22 August 1985.... she's 32 this year. Fine boat. Brilliantly designed by Dick Zaal. Don't see selling her. Someone will have a fine yacht when I no longer can sail.

Re: How long have you owned your boat?

At 66 I'm a relative newbie to sailing.
Bought my first sailboat, 33' Ted Brewer, about 10 years ago.
Bought second boat, 44' Alan Pape, about 6 years ago.
Still have both.
First Wife I left after 14 years.
Second Wife and I are together for about 39 years and going strong.
We are now pretty much full time live aboards and did something like 5,000 miles last year. But I think that will be exceptional.
Right now I'm killing time waiting for primer coat to dry before next coat.

Re: How long have you owned your boat?

I grew up with boats. My parents bought an O'Day 7/11 dinghy in 1959. In 1962, they bought the sailboat to go with it - a Pearson Triton (Hull #301). Both are still sailing in our family - to this date, actively sailed.

My parents bought a 1959 Douglas built Flying Scot (#576) in 1969. Still in the family, actively sailed.

I bought a 47' Alden designed auxiliary ketch, hull #777A, in 1985. Has been worked on/off ever since. Currently undergoing intense work to complete for blue water cruising by spring, 2018.
