We are currently planning the design of a new boat .



Now I must admit we will be living on board together, but how much say should a man have when it comes to boat design? My husband insists he has some requirements - cold drinks, hot showers, a large island bed, two lots of speakers for his hifi, a workbench and storage space for tools. Something about needing a super large anchor and oversized anchor winch too.



Should I humour the Admiral?

Suggestions gratefully appreciated.

How's it going with his big-assed 500 watt per channel built in speaker in every cabin? Have you discussed the amount of extra solar panels needed to drive the 2000 watt per channel class A amp?

But... in your case.. a new underwater camera and Speedo's should keep him out of you hair..

I am thinking of going larger, maybe 45ish. I take my husband's wants and needs seriously as we are a team and his input is just as important as mine.
I have the final say so, but would not buy anything my husband would not be totally happy with.

The weight balance is being recalculated by the architects as we speak.
The 500 kg anchor on the bow will balance the solar panels needed. Water and fuel tanks are being shifted to allow for the speakers.

Well, when we got our first boat, I spent a few weeks with a pen and pad, and she did too. Then we compared lists.

She had list of well thought out ideas -I couldn't poke a hole anywhere in her logic. My list?

...I had a pile of sketches and some measurements (a) a battering ram for the front (b) where to put my rain boots and still be able to reach a cooler from the cockpit, and (c) how to swap out the entire dinning area and benches to fit a pool table in -who needs friends over when you can just shout something across the water and salute with your beer?

We had many years of nice, quiet social evenings around her dinette with friends.

...I still got to shout across the water, albit a bit more humbly.
