Walt, I still use Selma fids for some applications, but have found needle fids far better in some applications. Here are a few links:

Medium Splicing Needle - Best Prices for Rope in the UK. Sailing, Yachting Climbing and decking Rope by the meter - (Powered by CubeCart)

Wire fids work in a similar manner and can be made by simply bending a piece of stainless steel wire back on itself and winding the ends around anything that can serve as a "handle". I think StuM uses a screwdriver as a handle.

There are also splicing wands:

Thanks for all the extra information you posted. I am looking forward to hearing about any of your other dyneema projects .

Thanks Seaworthy Lass,

By the way my private messages are not blocked. I've been answering questions from other visitors on it.

It was a long time since the last time I was on this forum but it seems it hasn't changed.

For the 80% out there; We have a Facebook page "Sail'n Somewhere" and you all are invited to it anytime.
Any contributions I have to make in the future will go direct to You Tube. So watch for me there.
Can't say it's been great.
Too old and too much to do.

Don't bother replying because I won't be reading it. Book mark is gone as well.

Walt Spang.
