Iassc Puts One Ashore in Dominica

Just there last month can't imagine anyone trying to ride out a TS in what is normally just a lee shore/open roadstead, while sleeping.

Thankfully no one was hurt. Some of the comments are funny.

Good size Jeanneau. The other boats in the anchorage look as if they fared alright.

Shame it landed on the rocks instead of the beach in the background.

Re: Iassc puts one ashore in Dominica

We were there last year, when Tropical Storm Maria passed 18NM north of Portsmouth...
Tied to 2 moorings and droped one ancor with 210ft of chain...
Even with gusts of more than 50 knots, we had no problem.
We were helped by the BoatBoy Monty, the guy that is with a white shirt and black hat in the pictures.
Fell bad for the crew of Utopia... nice boat.
Hope that Isaac calm down and don't bring more problems to the people in Haiti.

I don't like to second guess others, because you don't know the details, but what were they doing in such an open anchorage with a storm coming? I expect their insurance company might ask the same thing.

Dominica is a beautiful place though.
