Inside Bay Of Biscay

Hi Friends,
Starting to plan next summers cruise from the UK to Cascais.
I've done this trip before but with a non stop jump across Bay Of Biscay
On this trip we are thinking of going inside of Biscay to explore the Bordeaux region of France and the Basque regions of both France and Spain.
The trip would start in Ipswich UK - Hopscotch to Torquay then over to Brest.
Last time we went straight from Brest to A Coruna, this time we want to more or less coastal cruise the coasts and visit towns, villiages, drink wine and eat fresh coissants.
We will be 3 or 4 aboard a Bavaria 36 (2 RYA Coastal & 1 Day Skipper for sure) We plan to leave on or about July 1, 2016 and have no time frame at all, and will for sure be paying attention to weather windows.
So I'm looking for information on routes, ports, marinas, and anything else
you might think of ? What would be a good source of info for me to do some
research with, Books,Cruising Guides ?
Also need some recommendations on where to leave the Boat over the winter close to Lisbon?
Thanx in Advance
Cheers
Neil

Re: Inside Bay Of Biscay

We've done from les sables /la Rochelle to Galicia a couple of times, didn't go right into the corner though. Santander was the most eastern port we visited. Beautiful country and ports and harbours and inexpensive docking and food as well. We used atlantic spain and portugal by Imray for a guide, and the block marine guide for France and Galicia. The only part that might require an overnight sail is after La Rochelle. You need to time it right and avoid the firing range. Actually now I think of it there's an excellent guide I also have here.

The Spanish rias are great as well, you could easily spend a couple of seasons just between la coruna and Lisbon.
