Inverters

I'm looking into installing an inverter on board. I have noticed that they all come with really short connection cables. Is it possible to install an inverter, say 2.5mtrs from batteries.

Re: Inverters

sure, as long as you account for the voltage drop in sizing the wires

???

When I was shopping for an inverter, none of the ones I looked at came with cables. Instead, they mostly came with a manual that specified short/thick cables sized to the appropriate standards for the distance...

For a 1000W inverter installed 2.5m from the batteries, you would roughly require 3AWG.

This website provides a calculator. It gives results in mm2 but you can easily convert on google.
Electrical Wire and Cable Size Calculator

Don't forget to install a breaker or fuse between the inverter and the batteries.
