Is the Preview Day worth it?

We are planning to attend the Annapolis Sailboat Show next week. We have been there before, though not for years. Is the extra price for the Preview Day, on Thursday, worth it, or are the crowds the same?

Like so many things sailing... it depends!

Weather has a huge impact, but in general... we have always thought Thursday tickets were a good deal. Especially if you were there to look at boats. Get there early, and as soon as you get in make a beeline for the biggest most popular boats you are interested in. You'll have a chance for a reasonably private experience before the sale crew has burnt out.

If you are buying from the booths, the day matters little. In fact, you can get the best deals on Monday, making offers for things they don't want to carry home!

I'm only going Thur and Fri. See no reason to fight the weekend crowds. We will be on a plane heading home on Sat.

Re: Is the Preview Day worth it?

Last year it made no difference. This year I’ll go Sat/Mon, but I only live 90 minutes away by car.

Re: Is the Preview Day worth it?

AS mentioned earlier the weather makes a big difference. I would NEVER go on Saturday. If the timing and weather is right for you Monday can be a great day.

Personally for the minor cost I always go on Thursday and early Friday. Sometimes Friday afternoon can get busy.

See you there!

PS I have an extra 2 day ticket that includes Preview day available! Let me know if you are interested.

Yes, if you:
Are shopping for a new (not new to you) boat
you are coming with an agenda, to visit particular vendors, to ask questions that may take more than a minute or two.
If you want to pay for a less crowded environment...

... or if you want to see the NEW Balmar SG200 Battery Monitor:
