Key Largo boat launch, vehicle parking

I have a Catalina 25 swing keel on a trailer. I'd like to tow it to Key Largo and launch it for a week-long cruise.

I'm hoping to find a place where I can launch the boat and keep the truck and trailer relatively secure during the cruise.

Suggestions?

Re: Key Largo boat launch, vehicle parking

My news is years old, but we used to go to Gilbert’s Resort for that.

Other possible options are Key Lime Sailing Club (which is actually a hotel) and Upper Keys Sailing Club (an actual club) but I doubt it. There are a couple marinas on the Stretch, see below. Call first. Good luck.

Re: Key Largo boat launch, vehicle parking

Bumping this one up. I called Gilbert's a year or so ago and they said they no longer have a boat ramp. Google Earth (old pics) show it, but when using the street view, it does appear to be gone. We were planning on South Dade Marina, but man that place looks sketch...especially with the large billboard near the ramp. I am looking for secure solutions as well. I think we'd even be willing to go further south, but we'd really like to launch in the Key Largo area (bay side). Definitely open to ideas as well.

Why not launch it in crandon marina in Miami? No bridges to worry until you get to key largo. You can hop to Elliot key then into Barnes sound, etc

Or
One place that always full of people is Robbie’s in isla morada. Just google feeding Tarpon fish and you will find their phone number. They do have a canal and a ramp and tons of people so maybe your truck would be safe there.
