Re: Legalities

Name and hailing port on exterior and documentation number inside. See pages 6,7 and 8.

Re: Legalities

You need a name and homeport matching your coast guard documentation in 6" letters on your hull. You need your official number marked inside your boat in 3" numbers. And you need a state registration sticker on the bow. You'll need the state registration if you don't already have it, many states require it regardless of USCG documentation.

Re: Legalities

You wont need the state registration sticker until you're in that state 90 days.... right?

Re: Legalities

The 60-120 day grace period for state registration is only for boats registered in another state.

Re: Legalities

Just to clarify terminology (because I think terminology confusions lead to 90% of these kinds of questions) your boat does NOT have a Coast Guard "registration." The Coast Guard does NOT "register" boats. States "register" boats. The Coast Guard "documents" boats.

State "registration," Coast Guard "documentation."
