Lithium batteries / insurance

Anyone compiled a list of insurance companies that restrict (or inject enough rules to essentially restrict) switching to lithium batteries? Who’s okay with it and who isn’t?

Be interested in hearing everyone’s experiences. Thanks.

Re: Lithium batteries / insurance

My policy mentions nothing about the type of batteries installed in my boat.

Re: Lithium batteries / insurance

I recently asked my marine insurance underwriter if they have any constraints re: Manufactured for purpose LiFePO4 batteries as a FLA house bank replacement.

Their response:

Quote:
AMIG does not have any specifications/guidelines/exclusions regarding battery type. As long as whatever battery you have or you get is installed to meet fire/safety guidelines for that variety, then you are fine with any kind.
I continue to plan my house bank upgrade…

FWIW

Cheers, Bill

PS: AMIG is a A+ rated subsidiary of an international fortune 100 holding company. We have healthy Yacht cover for All Risk, Agreed Value with strong Consequential Loss, along with several independent 7 figure liability coverages. [i.e., We are far from underinsured…]

PPS: If you are unfamiliar with [or need a refresher for] some of the marine cover jargon I used in the PS, please see my brief Marine Insurance overview page.
