Looking for a slip in Fort Lauderdale/Miami area

Hello all,

We are looking for an annual slip for Solaire our 30' catamaran.

Our vessel will be in the Fort Lauderdale/Miami area Late February and looking for its new home.

Solaire is a Maine Cat 30

30' Length
18' Beam
47' Mast Height

We are looking for reasonably priced options. Hoping to keep it between $15 - $20 per foot.

We do not live aboard.

Any help finding Solaire's new home would be appreciated.

Thanks

Your requested price point is a challenge for any marina in the area. But... there are lots of private docks you might find available for rent. Amenities vary widely. Lots of leg work required to find one to suit you

If it is a long term rental also check craigslist

Reasonably priced slip in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale is an oxymoron. There is no such thing.

I pay $12 a foot behind a private home that is up the New River in Ft.Lauderdale 30 minutes beyond the I-95 fixed bridge... 4 opening bridges and 2 hours to Port Everglades cut and open ocean. The bridges lock down for 2 hours in morning and evening traffic rush hour so potentially, it could take you 4 hours of motoring just to go for a day sail. You have to plan accordingly.

The bright side is that its hurricane protected and safe. No boat wakes to speak of.

You might as well apply for a slip in the public marinas and wait till one opens up. Miami Dade has mooring fields with a wait list but is an option. With a Maincat you have options. Driving to Miami from Ft Lauderdale is faster than the crossing time you will spend to get to open water.

I found a slip last year up the river for my 39 foot cat for $12 a foot. Craig's list. No live aboard. What I saw going up and dow the river was several signs on private property slip for rent with phone number.

Looking at slips and docking in Fort Lauderdale and I found this:

https://www.dockskipper.com/listings...rt-lauderdale/

If I'm reading it right, no live aboards, but only about $2 per foot per month. That seems crazy cheap. Am I reading something wrong?

Yeah. This ^^^^

With the possible exception of Key West, slips in the Dade/Broward area are the most expensive in the state, by a fair margin. If you are willing to go up the coast north of Palm Beach, or almost anywhere on the west coast, then prices go down substantially.

Good luck.
