Mast Cradle

We are planning a trip from Kentucky Lake to Mobile on the Tom Tigbee. We will need to drop the mast. We want to take it with us, does anyone have experience or plans for a cradle onboard

Re: Mast Cradle

We have been following them because the Midi Canal is on our bucket list. What a great way to spend a summer, breakfasts of croissants, lunch fromage on fresh bread, and red wine in the afternoon

Anyway back to the thread, Nick does quite a good job of it.

Re: Mast Cradle

We carried 2 masts (ketch rig), so we had to be more creative through the Erie Canal. Typically a framed type crutch out of wood will work. Just try to get it very sturdy so it doesn't fall or move.
Don't know if you will be motoring at night but fashion some sort of steaming light and a proper anchor light.

We did the Midi Canal in Oct 2017, using a 42 ft canal boat rented thru LeBoat. It was pretty much everything you described!
