Miami Area Vehicle and Trailer Storage While in Bahams (one month)

Hey all,

Looking for a very secure storage facility for my pickup and empty boat trailer in the Key/Miami area. We'll tenatively launch from Hammock or Crandon (plan on setting out of No Name). Although Miami/Dade launches do have security, I've read enough stories that I'm concerned about my stuff. Coming from across the US, so if our trailer or mast raising/lowering gear goes missing, I'm seriously, seriously screwed.

Ideally, would like to find a hyper secure RV storage place, not too far from Key Biscayne (Uber to and from the launch). I've reached out to several RV storage type places via Google searches, but haven't heard a peep (Miami/Dade Parks, on the other hand, is very helpful. I'm just not comfortable leaving my vehicle and trailer at one of their parks). If anyone has done this and has good, or bad, results, ideas, etc., I'm all ears. Thanks!!

It's been many years, but we used to launch our F-27GS at Key Largo, at Gilbert's Resort, who for a reasonable fee allowed us to leave our trailer there. Our trips were 2wks. If that is still a possibility, you would be hopping a favorable GS current out of Angelfish Creek to Bimini, with a nice anchorage at Pumpkin Key for staging

Thank you very much. I dropped them a line yesterday, but have not heard back yet. Thank you again.

might broaden your search to storage facilities in general. Some have extra parking lot space where they allow vehicles/trailers to be stored for a fee. And since nearly all of these facilities are access controlled you should have decent protection. Heck some even will rent you a storage space large enough for your vehicle to be inside behind lock and key.

I think we may have found and option or two around Key Largo. Thanks!

For a truck- Yes. Trailer - no. And IMO not as secure as other options.

Harbour Towne Marina in Dania has long term parking and ramp, a little bit north but close to inlet

Re: Miami Area Vehicle and Trailer Storage While in Bahams (one month)

We have this problem every year. We need a storage area for our truck (18' long) and our boat trailer (40' long) for around two (2) months in the West Palm or Ft. Lauderdale, or Miami, FL area in the June/July/August time of the year. Privately owned areas are OK, aka, someones back yard/drive way if reasonably secure. RV storage area or rental parking area.

Thanks everyone. Still plugging away at this. I've whittled it down to the Key Largo area. Just makes sense for what we want to do. I have a backup plan, but still working on Plans A and B. Lots of calls and emails, so hopefully something shakes out. Thanks again.
