Missing Your Monohull in Sarasota?

No seriously, is anyone missing their monohull? These pics were taken yesterday and today on Siesta Key (Cresent) Beach.

Re: Missing Your Monohull in Sarasota?

If there was no one aboard that boat, I'd be looking for someone overboard in the area. If the engine were running (or the controls show that it was running before it quit) and/or there is an autopilot shown to have been engaged, an MOB could be a good bit south of the location as the coast treads westerly such that an unmanned boat on a northerly course would eventually fetch up on the shore.

Too bad you didn't get a snap of the yacht's name or registry by which one could track down the owner. Hopefully, no lift has been lost.

Re: Missing Your Monohull in Sarasota?

Silly question but were the keel and rudder buried, or torn off?

SIESTA KEY- People on Siesta Key Beach are used to taking in beautiful views of the gulf, but today they had a different view.
A beached sailboat has been stuck on the beach for the past two days. The coast guard tells SNN the passengers are safe, and a problem with the boat caused it to drift to shore. They said the owners are working on removing the boat from the shore.

The rudder, at least, appears intact.

Had been very windy last week, finally laying down yesterday.Keel and rudder probably buried. Water is still very silty from wave action, so a lot of sand has been moving around

I suspect that there's a sad story behind this.

I don't know, if she is undamaged and depending on how far it has to go to get to water deep enough to float her, it may not be all that bad to salvage.
I guess hope for the best

My concern is for the crew. The boat looks to be in decent shape. Fingers crossed.
