MMSI # and boat name

I need help with the boat name for the MMSI#. We applied to the FCC and were assigned the previous MMSI number for this boat back in April. Boat name still shows up on Marine traffic as the old boat name. Our license shows our new boat name. Any idea how to change it other than to discontinue it and request it again?

Re: MMSI # and boat name

Has the AIS been updated with the new boat name? If so, MarineTraffic should pick up the new boat name from static data messages transmitted from the boat. If you are transmitting the new name and it hasn’t been picked up MT has a forum where you can discuss the issue with them - https://help.marinetraffic.com/hc/en...l-name-change-

If you are in the US then you will most likely have to get the manufacturer to unlock (which may mean sending the unit in) the AIS to make a change to the static data. This is certainly the case with MMSI, but 47CFR80.231 covers “entry of static data” which includes the name.

Re: MMSI # and boat name

I am taking a guess here that your AIS transmitter is the source of the marine traffic website info. In that case you need to reprogram your AIS so it transmits the current name. Most AIS manufacturers websites can explain how this can be accomplished. Sometimes by you, sometimes by them.

Re: MMSI # and boat name

Our PC is having difficulty connecting to PRO AIS2 for the boat name change in AIS. We have connected once but it won't connect again. AIS is showing us without a name but is showing the boat. OK so I can leave my MMSI # alone and deal with the AIS to get the name in. Thanks for the help
