Mooring Bitt

Does anyone use a mooring bitt? I keep my Peterson 33 on a mooring. The pendant is 7/8" and the loop won't fit through the opening in my bow cleat. We could change all the cleats to Hershoff style which would accommodate the pendant loop, but the anodized aluminum ROM cleats match the toe rail and other deck hardware. So I'm thinking of adding a mooring bitt, but don't know how secure that pendant attachment would be.
